How players connect

Each game’s page has a How players connect card: short steps filled in with your server’s address.

  • Player guide: what is needed (whether the game is paid or free, which device it runs on), where to download and buy it (store, Steam, Minecraft Launcher, FiveM…), how to connect step by step, tips for the game and what to do if you cannot connect. Send it to players with Copy guide.
  • Copy invite text: a ready invitation to paste into WhatsApp or Discord (address, steps and links).

Joining the game yourself (e.g. Minecraft)

These steps are done in the game itself, not in Captanel:

  1. Minecraft: Java Edition must be installed on the computer (paid, minecraft.net; you do not need to install Java separately).
  2. In the Minecraft Launcher: Play → Multiplayer → Add Server → server address → Done, then double-click the server.
  3. To become an admin, type your name in the Players section in Captanel, choose Make operator from the list and press Apply.

Managing players

In the Players section, players in the game have Make operator, Kick and Ban buttons. For someone not in the game, type their name, choose from the list (Add to whitelist / Remove from whitelist, Make operator / Remove operator, Ban / Unban, Kick) and press Apply.

Announcing to players

In the Announce to players box below the console, enter your name or nickname and the message, then press Announce. In the game it shows as “[Nickname] message” (the name in gold); accented letters stay intact.

  • The console box is only for game commands (e.g. time set day, weather clear). If you type plain text, a “That is not a game command” warning appears.

Player limit and memory

  • The player limit is changed in the game’s Settings (up to 500). The real limit is the server’s memory: with 4 GB, roughly 20–30 people play comfortably; 100 people need 8–16 GB.
  • If two games run at the same time on a 4 GB server, memory fills up; the server slows down and may stop answering. Stop one game or add swap.
  • When an install, removal or update finishes, the game screen refreshes by itself.

Plugin store

For Minecraft (Paper), search the Plugin store or press Install on an item in Suggested, then Restart the server.
